Equipping for the cold

As the winters are about to start, the upper regions of the Himalayas would be crammed with snow. So, the villagers living in those regions need to stock food for themselves and for their herd of cattle. In the picture, women living in a gorge near Badrinath collect grasses to reserve for the upcoming winter season

The glory of Pamban bridge

The first sea bridge of India was completed in 1914, it is a remarkable experience to witness it. When the train crosses the roaring sea in a slow-moving chariot there is a sense of thrill and contentment. This bridge connects mainland India to the Pamban island and Rameshwaram and until 1988 it was the only land way to reach Rameshwaram and Pamban Island. In 1988, a road bridge parallel to the rail bridge was constructed which took 14 years to construct.
